A command line utility to download a file from a remote server to the local hard drive

GrabFile is a command line utility that allows you to download a file from a remote server (using either HTTP or FTP) and store it on your local hard drive. A good example of its use would be to download a pricelist or a logfile every night from a remote webserver.

You can download the latest build of GrabFile from the Downloads section.

Once you've downloaded from the Downloads section, unzip it to somewhere in your path (eg your Windows folder).

Then simply call GrabFile.exe from the command line (or a batch file). The syntax is as follows:

GrabFile [Remote File] [Local File] [-Overwrite]

 [Remote File]

The full address of the file to be downloaded.

[Local File] The full path and filename to give to the downloaded file.
eg: C:\MyFiles\download.csv
[-Overwrite] Overwrite the local file if it already exists.
If this switch is not specified and the file already exists then GrabFile will still attempt to download the file
but will then save it in the specified folder with a random filename.

GrabFile HTTP:// C:\MyFiles\download.csv

GrabFile HTTP:// "C:\New Proposal.doc" -Overwrite
